Amazon Business helped us to implement our business strategy

The company owner of the MutecPower brand Access King is one of the first sellers to work on Amazon Seller Central across all available countries. The company was founded in 2012 by Aryeh Safern. Its aim was to offer high-quality wiring and cables online and to find products that stood out among strong competition. The company immediately became a selling partner on Amazon and outsourced the entire shipping process via Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA).
Introducing pan-European shipping was the best thing that Amazon could have done for us. This enabled us to send all of our items to a single location and leave Amazon to sort them for each of the European markets. As far as sales are concerned, this has also given us a big boost.

COVID-19 brought about some challenging highs and lows for the team. At the start of the pandemic, daily sales doubled. However, just as goods were starting to sell out, production and ports in China were closed. As a result, stocks could not be replenished and the company suffered from all the resulting delays and increased shipping costs. Business operations have now returned to normal and the company is looking forward to continuing to build its relationship with business customers on Amazon.

Amazon Business helped us to implement our business strategy

As Safern explains, Amazon Business, which is aimed at business customers, has helped the company to implement its business strategy.
When Amazon Business was introduced, we did two things: Firstly, we gave discounts to business customers; secondly, we gave all companies a volume discount for more than 5, more than 10 or more than 20 purchases. This helped us a lot, as business customers tend to come back to us again and again. As we all know, people love discounts.

Safern also shares what he discovered about the buying habits of B2B customers:
Business customers are much less likely to be one-time buyers. They come back again and again when they are satisfied. Sometimes, customers will buy a large number of items and then buy the same high quantity again some time later. As a result, we know that they are satisfied with our products and our prices.

Build your brand with Amazon

MutecPower is a registered trademark in the EU and the USA. Safern says that the company had a great experience growing the brand on Amazon: "The Amazon Brand Registry service has enabled us to significantly expand our brand. Companies tend to pay attention to the brand, particularly when it comes to B2B sales."

Important tips for up-and-coming companies

Safern shares his personal insights with other business owners who sell on Amazon: "The most important thing is to be fully focused. Amazon Business cannot be run on a part-time basis. If you want to operate on Amazon as a company, you need to put the work in. It's really a full-time job. You also need to offer your business customers lower business prices and volume discounts too.”

He notes that there are two major challenges: intense competition and low prices. There are thousands of sellers and it can be difficult to be successful with good prices alone. Safern also mentions an important key to success: "You should find a product that's different and stands out from the competition. Look for a niche market, like a product that doesn't have much competition, and offer it at fair prices."
