Amazon Business helped us embody our business strategy

CEO and founder, Access King BVBA

The company Access King, which owns the MutecPower brand, was one of the first sellers to operate in all countries available on Amazon Seller Central. Aryeh Safern created the company in 2012 to offer high-end wiring and cables online, as well as products that stand out from the competition. Straightaway, the company became a selling partner on Amazon and outsourced all of its shipping with FBA (Fulfilment by Amazon).
The creation of the Pan-European programme was one of the best things that Amazon could have done for us. We could ship everything from one location and Amazon could sort it to go to all the European markets. It was also a big boost for us in terms of sales.

COVID-19 caused problems for the company: At the start of the pandemic, daily sales doubled, then stocks ran out while production and ports were closed in China. As a result, restocking was impossible and the company experienced delays and increased shipping costs. Now business has returned to normal for the company and it is looking to further develop its relationship with its business customers on Amazon.

Amazon Business helped us embody our business strategy

Aryeh notes that Amazon Business, by targeting business customers, has helped them embody their business strategy.
When Amazon Business was created, we did two things: Firstly, we offered business users a discount, and then we offered all businesses a quantity discount for purchases of more than 5, 10 or 20 units. This has helped us a lot as business customers tend to come back to us every time. As you know, everyone likes a discount.

Aryeh also shares his thoughts on B2B customer behaviour:
Business customers are less likely to make one-off purchases. They are repeat customers, who will come back every time if they are satisfied. Sometimes customers buy large quantities, then come back later to buy the same amount. So we know they're happy with our products and pricing.

Build your brand with Amazon

The MutecPower brand is registered in the European Union and the United States. Aryeh shared his excellent experience building his brand on Amazon: “The Amazon Brand Registry service has allowed us to significantly develop our brand, especially for B2B sales: Businesses notice the brand.”

Key tips for growing businesses

Aryeh shared his thoughts with other business owners selling on Amazon: “The most important thing is to be fully focused. You can’t see Amazon Business as a side job. If you want your business to work on Amazon, you need to work — it's a full-time job. Then, you need to offer your Amazon Business customers discounted business prices and quantity discounts.”

He points out that the two main difficulties are high competition and low prices: There are thousands of sellers and it is difficult to win business with good prices alone. So Aryeh gave a tip that helped him succeed: “You should find a unique product that stands out from the competition. You can find a niche market, a product without too much competition, and offer it at a good price.”
